News Flash...False Pregnancy

For some unknown reason, Sassy is not going to whelp. BUMMER! We will be looking at all of our options when she comes into heat again. She had all the signs, but no puppies!

Is this common in Brittany's? My female is going through a false pregnancy right now when she was never allowed to mate. I've never had any of my other Brittanys do this. Any idea on this, please feel free to contact me at jess91787@yahoo.com.

Brittany (Spaniel)

Often known simply as the Brittany, in its native France this breed is known as the Epagneul Breton, or the Brittany Spaniel, and it is thought to have been developed in Callac in Brittany during the 1800s, as the result of crossing local spaniels with setters and pointers that had been taken to France by English hunters. An all around hunting breed, the Brittany is regarded as the only pointing spaniel, and as a point, hunt, and retrieve dog that has become probably the most popular gundog in France on account of its versatility. Used for hunting small game, particularly birds such as woodcock, quail, and partridge, it has also become highly valued as a hunting companion in the U.S., and as a popular family pet. It is generally affectionate and easy to look after. However, having been bred as a working dog, the Brittany is highly active and requires a great deal of exercise if it is to remain content, and in order to lessen its desire to roam.
